Question: I have a Remington model 700BDL, 270cal. rifle. My daughter wants to use it but it is a little long for her. Can a shorter stock be purchased, or even a youth model stock be fitted to it?Any suggestions?
Answer: Ram-Line make a Cadet stock for the Remington 700. It's a synthetic stock with a recoil pad and it comes with the sling swivel studs already attached. They call it a Youth/Ladies stock. It has a shorter length of pull which should work for your daughter. If or when she out-grows it you can replace it with the original stock. Bass Pro Shops carries them and the cost is $59.99. Check it out at their web site. Item number 42-896-786-06. It's made for the Rem. 700 BDL LA. The LA means long action and that's what the 270 is. They are easy to install and very durable. Hope this helps. Remember to always have her wear ear and eye protection while shooting and have fun.
