Question: I have an old Oberndorf Mauser M98 Sporting rifle - 8mm cal. It originally came with a claw-mount Hensoldt type scope. Does anyone know of bases or mounts / rings to fit these and mount a newer-style scope, a conversion kit or something. Answer: To my knowledge there was no conversion kit. Old scopes were just replaced mounts and all, with the new mounts drilled and tapped into the receiver. You still see the old scopes and mounts for sale to collectors. I have quite a few Mausers and a few from Oberndorf. Try these guys, they have a huge inventory that's not on the website....
