Question: I'm interested in purchasing a WWII gun that is not a replica (and also not too expensive) Which guns would I be able to purchase in California as a pre-ban gun? I was thinking of a field grade M1 garand. Is there any reason I would not be able to purchase one of these? Which other guns would I be able to purchase? I do already have a handgun legally purchased here.
Answer: If you are looking for inexpensive authentic WW2 rifles, I suggest: Mosin Nagant M44-M38-M91/30. Any of these you can usually pick up for under 200 dollars, sometimes even under a hundred. This was the Russian rifle of choice. You can also go for a Mauser 8mm k98. Most of these will also be about 200 dollars. German rifle of choice. Anything American is going to be extremely expensive. For an M1 Garand Ive seen them go mostly around 1200-2000 dollars. The cheapest Ive seen them is on CMP, but they are currently out of them last i checked. M1 Carbines are even more expensive, with M1903's being slightly less expensive but still are quite pricey.
